Monday, October 19, 2009 Weekend Zombie Wrap-Up

  • NPR's Weekend Edition had a bit on the recent surge of literary zombies, and how authors are using the rotting corpses of the undead as a metaphor for alienation and other modern problems. The story can be downloaded here.
  • The zombie disaster preparation plan produced for the University of Florida was taken down almost immediately after it made the news. Which confirms what we've always suspected, that no one from Florida has a sense of humor. (The students who produced the plan must have been from out of state.) Still, the intrawebs will not be denied - the plan has been salvaged and can be downloaded in pdf format here. While they get a few facts wrong - misspelling Shaun of the Dead and referring to George Romero as "Oscar" - it is both useful and entertaining. I especially liked the "Official Co-Worker Dispatch Form", which can be adapted for use at your place of employment with a little effort.
